Serious Pigeon is serious

Sunday, 30 August 2009 at 23:49
I went to London with the wife and son yesterday, took in a few places. Mainly went to take my son to the transport museum again (He is a bus/train fan).  Also I fancied going up on the London eye with him. That was until I saw the price. They want £27 pounds a person for a go on that big wheel! Well they ain't getting anything near that from me. Pfff I say it was overpriced at £7 a go. Anyways we had fun.
Best pic I came back with was this Very serious looking Pigeon who eyed up our chips in the Liverpool st station Macdonalds.

The other pics didn't escape my photoshop placing, along with a couple of some plums and damsons we got from the allotment for more jam making earlier.
(Before anyone says, my wife is carrying the fruit cos I was carrying our son and some tools! Honest, I was! :-) )

Harlow man meets Nature!

I've been over my allotment quite a lot over the last few days. We've had clear warm weather here and I got a fair bit done. Its been hard work though, digging and tending the veggies that are left.(digging the clay there has given me  chicken-thighs! lol) I'm sort of planning to get the whole area dug over before next spring and plant much more than I got round to this year. Its a nice plan and I'm sticking with it ;) Doesn't help much that everyone else on the site seem to have a small nations budget at their disposal for their plots, and there's me with my trusty wonky-handled spade in a sea of B&Q Billionaires ! Seriously, one of the guys on a nearby plot has solar panels on his shed powering a CCTV system monitoring his courgettes.(Try not to lol. Thankyou !:P)  I'm not jealous, or knocking him, I'm not sure I wouldn't do the same if I had the cash,  but I do feel a little like a cave man over there at times...
Prolly why I like it ;)

Went to the Museum

Friday, 21 August 2009 at 21:32
So I headed to the town museum today with my son. They had a childrens activity day thing on, making forts and playing table top wargames. He had a great time, I had a good day of it too. Great gardens there and I grew up around the corner from here so it took me back down memory lane :o) Anyways heres some pics thrown together with my new-favorite photoshop place function ;p

Midnight

at 00:00
Its midnight and there is this whiney whistley brain mashing car alarm 'pwhew-pwhew-pwhew''ing outside somewhere and its too warm to close the windows.
Bah.

Anyways, heaven. What does it look like ? If you belive or not, what does the word 'Heaven' make you think of?
Im just asking ;0) Curious .. :)

Another exam

Saturday, 15 August 2009 at 20:13

I just had another end of section exam today on my CCNA. Now the hardest thing about these tests ive found so far, is the journey there on the trains. Seems London underground have consulted my tutors (behind my back!) and rescheduled upgrading their bussiness only on days when I have to travel across the country... Forth day school this time around and the forth time for disruption...
So I arrive at the Campus five (yep, 1-2-3-4-5 !!) hours late for a seven hour lecture thing and walk through the doors and see this :-

At which point as you could likely guess I was a bit peeved.

But after sucessfully resisting the urge to give up and say a rude word or something, I discovered my lecture group were actually in another room nearby, so all was not lost. I caught the end of the talk and sat the test, and passed, yay!

Climbed a tree

Wednesday, 12 August 2009 at 23:12

Walking back from my allotment today I saw an apple tree heavy with fruit. It was on no ones personal ground, just some scrubby bit of bush near a set of neighbourhood garages. So in my shorts and wellies and at age 37 I scooted up there and managed to gather a large try of perfect cox apples in no time, all free !
I love this grow / gather your own food thing. Feels really good, eating a plant that you did all the work forfrom a seed. Also feels nice getting free apples and the childish rush of climbing a tree again!

AH and it rained silly while I was doing it, this is England ^^

My beginning

It all started in February 1972 when I joined the queue of hapless human beings in existence. I emerged screaming from my mother's womb in a place called Harlow Newtown, England (the screaming wasn't so much being born but realising "I live in HARLOW! Ahhggaa!").

My Mum was a housewife and my Dad at that time was a gardener. All very normal post-war newtown stuff. Our house was next to woodland and allotments and there were parks and fields all nearby too. I grew up not being sure if I was a town kid lucky to live in a leafy suburb or a country bumpkin who happened to have the convenience of a nearby cinema Was all cool though by merit of the biggest complaint I have from the ages under around 14 was that we never had enough cake in the house. I of course realise now that there will never be enough cake in the house ...

The reason for Cupboard Creatures

Friday, 7 August 2009 at 22:34

So im 37 going on 16 and I spend a large amount of my free time at the computer.
Cupboard Creatures is Cupboard Creatures because I once had a cupboard under the stairs with my PC in it, at which time I was unemployed, and I basically lived in that cupboard. I emerged from said Cupboard after about 3 years with nothing to show for it (other than 5 level 70 world of warcraft characters, a beer belly and a divorce^^.I dont regret the WoW time ;p) Since then I've upgraded the wife and tried to sort-out-mah-shit in a worldly sense.
But even though my wife and son are wonderful and I love them loads and am so much happier leading life with them the way things are now, there's a little bit of my heart still in that Cupboard, grinding another char to 70 or reading forums all day sipping cheap lager then singing along to windows media player ;) Im a big kid at heart, always have been :)
