Walking back from my allotment today I saw an apple tree heavy with fruit. It was on no ones personal ground, just some scrubby bit of bush near a set of neighbourhood garages. So in my shorts and wellies and at age 37 I scooted up there and managed to gather a large try of perfect cox apples in no time, all free !
I love this grow / gather your own food thing. Feels really good, eating a plant that you did all the work forfrom a seed. Also feels nice getting free apples and the childish rush of climbing a tree again!
AH and it rained silly while I was doing it, this is England ^^
What a wonderful way to spend a bit of time. I would love to climb a tree in the rain just to "steal" a bit of fruit.
Unfortunately for me - I'm too way out of shape for that.
I haven't climbed a tree in years, but certainly wouldn't be averse to doing so. It is good to get back to doing things you did as a kid sometimes - and apple scrumping was one of them! Glad you had that chance.
Yeah, was a feel good thing :) The Mrs made masses of blackberry and apple jam that night. Tastes far far better than anything I've tasted from a shop before :)
